Notes

Description
This trio of Western novellas opens with "Bared Fangs," in which ben Flinder's life at an isolated hotel in the mountains is complicated by the arrival of a young woman who is in flighty, but refuses to reveal from whom. She is befriended by the Gray Shadow, but even he cannot preven her capture. In "Gallows Gamble," jack Sherry and his partner, Bill Garvin, are making their last, nothing-left-to-lose run across the border herding "wet" cattle, hoping to pay their debts and start over. And the title story "The Wolf Strain," continues the adventures of Bull Hunter and his partner, gunfighter Pete Reeve; the wolf dog know as the Ghost; and the black stallion, Diablo. When Hunter tries to return a locket to Mary Hood, The Ghost becomes a stranger and Pete Reeve becomes a sworn foe.
